MILWAUKEE (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker is scheduled to speak before the Wisconsin state education convention.
Walker is slated to speak Friday morning at the meeting sponsored by the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators and the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials.
His appearance comes less than a month before he is to release his two-year state budget. Walker has said that spending plan will include more money for education and an expansion of the voucher program, but he hasn't provided many details.
Walker says he wants to provide incentive money to the highest and lowest performing school districts, based on how they do on state report cards.
More than 2,000 school district leaders from across the state are expected at the meeting.
