GREEN BAY — Dozens of Republicans who gathered to meet Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's sons Josh and Matt had a bigger surprise Sunday.
Romney's running mate Paul Ryan stopped by a tailgate across from Lambeau Field.
He played with his kids and posed for pictures. The vice presidential nominee also spoke about the excitement of having his home state still in the thick of the race for the White House.
“Can you imagine a better place to finish than in battleground Wisconsin? Great to be back in Green Bay, the only problem is, I don't have tickets to the game,” said Ryan.
"I think this is a state we can win. This is a state we are going to win and we feel really good about it. People are paying attention to what's happening,” said Josh Romney.
Though Democrats in the area didn't have any high-profile campaign stops in the area, they did take a more low-key approach to voting - canvassing neighborhoods, telling people to get out and vote.
“The people I've talked to, they're all planning on going out and voting, so that's really good to see that people are being receptive to what we're out doing,” said Marleigh Fiedler, a volunteer with the Obama campaign.
Democrats in the southern part of the state quickly prepped for Obama's return on Monday.
He'll be appearing in Madison with rocker Bruce Springsteen.
His campaign manager Robert Gibbs says the president is gaining ground in the dairy state.
"We have had a path to 270 electoral votes for many, many months. We have believed to get to 270 Wisconsin was going to be in it, and I think it's one of the easier paths for us," said Gibbs.
Though President Obama has pulled ahead in some polls, Wisconsin is still considered by both campaigns to be a total toss-up. It's one of eight states still in play.
With two days to go, both campaigns say the election will most likely go down to the wire.
