Biden seeks seniors' votes for Obama in Fla. stops

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is taking the Democratic campaign to two sprawling South Florida senior communities.

Biden is making his pitch Friday to re-elect President Barack Obama in Boca Raton and Tamarac. The Obama campaign sees 69-year-old Biden as a particularly strong asset in reaching out to seniors, who tend to lean Republican.

Medicare is destined to come up in Biden's visits to Century Village and Kings Point retirees. Democrats have been criticizing Republican Mitt Romney's plan to overhaul the program and see the proposal as a chance to earn more senior votes.

Florida has a higher proportion of people 65 and older than any other state and more than two-thirds showed up at the polls in the 2008 election.

Biden's two-day Florida campaign swing continues Saturday in Fort Myers.
