Johnson: Romney needs simple message

JANESVILLE (AP) — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson says Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney needs to deliver a simple message in order to defeat President Barack Obama.

Johnson spoke to reporters Monday before Romney's campaign stop at the Monterey Mills factory in Janesville.

Johnson says Romney's message needs to be that government is not the solution to the nation's problems. He says if Romney does that, he has a "really great shot" to win Wisconsin.

Republican Senate candidate Mark Neumann says Romney needs to keep his message focused on how he would balance the federal budget and create jobs. Neumann says the fact that Gov. Scott Walker won his recall election two weeks ago shows that Romney can also carry Wisconsin in the fall.

Walker appeared with Romney at the campaign stop.
