MADISON (AP) — Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus says the GOP's get-out-the-vote operation in the Gov. Scott Walker recall is being transitioned to the Mitt Romney presidential campaign.
Priebus said in a conference call Friday that Republicans made 4.5 million voter contacts during the recall and knocked on hundreds of thousands of doors.
Priebus says Republicans "crushed Democrats on the ground. We beat them at their own game."
Priebus describes Wisconsin as a light blue state that can turn red under the right circumstances. He says momentum is clearly shifting in Republicans' direction.
An exit poll of voters in Tuesday's recall election found that even though Walker won, President Obama was favored over Romney 51 percent to 44 percent.
