Walker, Barrett raise $1M+ in a week

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker and his Democratic challenger Tom Barrett have reported raising more than $1 million in less than one week.

Walker has reported raising about $800,000 over the past week while Barrett reports raising about $261,000.

Both candidates were also required to file a report Tuesday showing how much they raised between April 24 and May 21. The $1 million were reported in filings required as an election nears whenever someone gives over $500.

Walker reported several large donations, including $100,000 from Richard Pieper of Pieper Electric in Milwaukee. Walker also got $50,000 from Richard Roberts, president of URL Pharma in Philadelphia and $25,000 from Max Carney, chief executive officer of Midwest Insurance Co. in Springfield, Ill.
