Wis. Democrats counting on recalls

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch won't be the only Republican officeholders fighting to keep their jobs on June 5. Four recall contests in the Wisconsin Senate could change the balance of power in the chamber.

Republican Sens. Scott Fitzgerald, Van Wanggaard and Terry Moulton all face Democratic challengers in the June 5 general recall election.

Republican Sen. Pam Galloway also was targeted for recall, but she resigned rather than defend her seat. Democratic state Rep. Donna Seidel will face GOP Rep. Jerry Petrowski for the open slot.

The Senate is currently divided 16-16 between Republicans and Democrats. If even one Republican loses in the recalls Democrats would gain control of the chamber.
