Hovde submits signatures for Senate run

MADISON — Recalls aside, there are also major elections to be decided in the fall.

Monday, a candidate in the U.S. Senate race became the first to submit nomination signatures.

Eric Hovde turned in 4,000 signatures. That is the maximum that is allowed.

Hovde is a Madison businessman.

Other Republicans expected to file are Tommy Thompson, Mark Neumann and Jeff Fitzgerald.

The only anticipated Democrat is Tammy Baldwin.

The Senate seat is up for grabs because Democrat Herb Kohl is retiring.
