5 candidates don't have enough names

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State election officials say five candidates looking to run in this spring's recall elections failed to turn in enough valid signatures to get on the ballot.

Democrats have forced Republican Gov. Scott Walker, Republican Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and four GOP state senators into recalls Elections are scheduled for May 8 and June 5.

Candidates for governor and lieutenant governor need at least 2,000 valid signatures. Candidates for state Senate need at least 400. The deadline for submitting signatures to the Government Accountability Board was Tuesday.

GAB staff released a report Wednesday saying gubernatorial candidates Michael Mangan and Arthur Kohl-Riggs and lieutenant governor candidates Dale Paul, Bruce Berman and Ira Robins all failed to turn in enough valid names.

All the Senate challengers filed sufficient signatures.
