Neumann announces part of platform

MADISON (AP) — Mark Neumann is calling for term limits, stripping former politicians of federal benefits if they become lobbyists and constitutional justifications for every bill Congress passes.

Neumann is vying with former Gov. Tommy Thompson, state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald and investor Eric Hovde for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Neumann told reporters in the state Capitol on Monday he supports term limits for members of Congress, suggesting no one serve more than 12 years. He says he would exempt current members who have already served longer from the limits.

He also says he would strip former congressional members of their federal retirement benefits if they become lobbyists and push a plan that would require every bill specifically state what section of the U.S. Constitution authorizes it.
