Recall databases now on GAB's website

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Searchable databases showing who signed recall petitions against Republican Gov. Scott Walker and five others are now up on the state elections board website.

The recall petitions on the Government Accountability Board website allow for searching by name, but not address or any other field.

The website says enhancements to the search function are being worked on.

The board voted Friday to make the information public.

Unlike when a person votes, signing a petition is a public act. Many judges, public officials and others who signed the petition have already been criticized after the posting of one searchable database of Walker petition signers created by tea party groups.

The database is available at http://gab.wi.gov/elections-voting/recall/petitions.
