La Follette announces governor run

MADISON (AP) — Longtime Secretary of State Doug La Follette says he is committed to running for governor despite facing better funded opponents and a recent poll that shows him with little support.

La Follette said at a news conference Wednesday that he will seek the Democratic nomination in the effort to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

Two other Democrats are also running. Former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk has won every major endorsement so far, including from major public sector unions. State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, of Alma, is also running.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he will announce his decision on whether he gets into the race any day.

La Follette's announcement came a day after a Marquette Law School poll showed him with 8 percent support.
