New poll on Wis. gubernatorial recall

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — As Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett nears a decision on whether to get into the recall race against Republican Gov. Scott Walker, a new poll shows him ahead of Democratic rival Kathleen Falk.

The Marquette Law School poll
released Tuesday shows Barrett ahead of Democrat Kathleen Falk 36 percent to 29 percent.

The poll shows Walker is about even with both Barrett and Falk. Walker defeated Barrett in the 2010 election.

Falk got in the recall race in January and last week urged Barrett to not run and back her campaign instead.

Barrett has said he will announce his decision as soon as Friday.

The telephone poll of 370 likely voters in the Democratic primary was conducted Thursday through Sunday. Its margin of error is plus or minus 5.2 percentage points.
