Biography:

My name is Lauren Stephens… and I want my country back!

I know the American Dream because I lived it growing up, but where is MY American Dream? And what about yours?

I don’t know about you, but I am not doing so well in this economy. Since 2008, it seems as if every time I start to get ahead, there is some new regulation or revelation from our government that has an adverse effect on my business. I kept waiting for something extraordinary to happen, but it never did…

I want this hell to end, and that can only happen by all of us electing people who are truly willing to make a change and make a difference – no matter what. We must end the crony capitalism that is destroying our country from the inside out. We must really lay down the law on those who wish to harm us. We have to assert OUR rights, as Americans. We need to get rid of all this political correctness and bring back common sense. But most importantly, we MUST send a message to Washington – we are mad as hell and we aren’t going to take it anymore.

I believe that everything happens for a reason and I feel fortunate to have had all the life experiences that I have had, whether it is the variety of places that I have lived, the places I have traveled to, or the good and bad things that God put in my path to deal with.

I was born in Arizona, but I grew up in the Midwest. When my parents retired in Las Vegas, I went with them. I lived on the West Coast for several years. Then I got married and when my kids became school age and I saw what was going on in the schools, I decided I wanted a better life for them. We moved out here and we love it!

Wisconsin is a special and unique place. It is a great place to raise a family and with the recent reforms here in the state, it is becoming a better place to do business. I hope we can accomplish the same thing in Washington.

I’ve been self-employed most of my adult life. As a business owner, I can tell you first hand that our government is not helping us with all their interference and excessive regulations. Why can’t I just run my business?

In my main line of work, I am an advocate for people who have found themselves at a disadvantage in family court. I am a Professional Power of Attorney. I have a great deal of experience and success representing all types of people, not as a lawyer, but as an actual representative. I do this kind of work because I believe in people and those people count on me to solve their problems without creating more problems.

I am a member of the American Legal Professionals Network, Loan Signing Professionals, Minnesota Paralegal Association, Republican Professionals and various political groups. I am also a Notary in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Just recently, while doing my family genealogy, I discovered that I am a direct descendant of Martin Johnston who served in the American Revolution in the 1700′s. I am also a descendant of Judge Edward Jones and Senator James Jones (from Virginia and North Carolina). It was very exciting to learn that my family fought the fight for America long ago.

I am working on my degree in Public Administration. My focus is on Government, Ethics and Change Management. I urge you to read more about Change Management to find out why this gives me a distinct advantage in this election.

The incumbent, surprisingly enough, is campaigning on “Cutting Spending in Washington”, but he continues to favor billions of dollars in subsidies (welfare), voted to increase the debt ceiling numerous times (I guess that is easier than getting spending under control) and has a history of taking thousands upon thousands of dollars from special interest groups from both sides of the aisle in return for his voting and legislative support in Congress.

Until I announced my candidacy for federal office, I was the Executive Director of the Conservative Wisconsin PAC, an organization I founded in early 2011. I am very involved in political activism, because I believe we all have that responsibility.

Here are a few of the things I have accomplished over the past few years:

  • 1996 - Uncovered illegal activity by Hermandad Nacional Mexicana in Anaheim, California in the Bob Dornan (Republican) vs Loretta Sanchez (Democrat) Congressional race in California. The organization was illegally registering ineligible and illegal voters and instructing them to support Sanchez. Unfortunately, Dornan didn’t take the complaint seriously, and ended up losing the election. He was a six term incumbent.
  • 1999 – 2003 - Established a website to expose criminal activity by LeaseComm and filed complaints on behalf of myself and others against LeaseComm with various government agencies which resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement with the FTC as well as the cancellation of their fraudulent leases.
  • 2004-2008 - Represented a client who had a fraudulent $65,000 child support order against him. Was able to get the entire order reversed by the court due to the custodial parent’s harassment, perjury and inconsistent statements to the court. The County Attorney (Child Support Enforcement) attempted to coerce me off the case by threatening legal action against me, but the Judge ruled in my favor.
  • 2008-2009 - Recruited and organized an attempted take-over of the Village Board which I alleged was corrupt for years, not only by giving favors to their friends, but by appointing rather than allowing an election for the Village clerk (who had complete control over the election process). I discovered one of the incumbents had committed election fraud and he was removed from the ballot and one of our candidates won the election.
  • 2010 - After numerous incidents of physical and mental abuse of a mentally disabled student (my own son) by his public school district, I obtained a court order to have him removed from the school and placed in a residential treatment center where he has had amazing academic success. This was not a simple process.
  • 2011 - The same student as mentioned above was being mandated by Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to have an IEP forced on him and his new school against the parent’s wishes. After several months with no resolution (and with the assistance of one of our State Legislators), I was able to go to court and have the Judge instruct the school that the IEP was in fact the parent’s option and could not be mandated. It was removed.
  • 2011 – Founded the Conservative Wisconsin PAC
  • 2011 – Served on the City of Beloit’s Board of Ethics

I am a parent of two children. One of my kids has severe disabilities. I am a strong advocate for children and those with disabilities. I have been working with our failed system for years and have repeatedly spoken out to our government about the waste and fraud involved in the programs that are supposed to be helping our vulnerable people of all ages. The parents of these children need to have their rights restored because our government is making arbitrary decisions about children they don’t even know.

I am so excited at this opportunity and overwhelmed by the amount of support I have been receiving as I take our message all over the district. Although I am a Republican, the message is universal and has received support from people of both parties – elect people who truly represent the people and who will do the right thing in Washington for our district.

I am making several pledges to the people:

  • When elected, I will propose a Congressional pay rollback back to 2003 levels. Right now it is at $174,000. In 2003 was $154,700. That is a decrease of around 13%. That is just one of numerous changes I hope to be able to lead the fight on.
  • Congress gets a very generous commuting allowance in addition to their salary. I believe Congress should pay their own way back and forth to work, just like you and I have to do (with the exceptions being for meetings or other on the job related travel). I am committed to using alternate transportation to and from the district and pay for it out of my own salary.
  • I am committed to reading every single piece of legislation brought before me.
  • I am committed to communicating with you on a frequent basis. I will use social networking, phone, texting, emails, websites and in-person meetings.
  • If still available when elected, I will utilize free Federal office space thruout the district to make sure that we have enough staffed offices to meet your needs. I want to have at least 4 district offices to serve you.
  • I pledge not to be bought by special interest groups.
  • I am committed to utilizing everything at my disposal (and encouraging my colleagues in DC) to implement cost efficient processes at every level of government. This can be made possible by engaging in various business methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma and Lean Thinking.
  • As a true fiscal Conservative, I see that many programs, such as Social Security for retired people and the truly disabled, are NOT the problem. The waste, fraud, mismanagement and inefficiencies in our government are the real problem. I will work to solve those problems. Our government made us a promise and required us to pay into these programs. We need to fix the problem rather than expecting the American people to be left holding an empty bag.

Many of you have shared your stories with me. I know some of you have lost your homes, have been faced with evictions, have lost your cars and other things that you worked hard for. For many, just putting food on the table is getting more and more difficult.  I have been through these exact same things, so I can sympathize with you. We should all be in this together.

Don’t give up now – help is on the way!
